Biomechanics Workshop
This package contains workshop materials for multiscale biomechanics; including presentations and hands-on tutorials utilizing finite element analysis. Required software include PreView v1.12, FEBio v1.6 & PostView v1.4. The information is geared towards a general audience interested in biomechanical principals at multiple spatial scales. The workshop was originally delivered at Pan American Advanced Studies Institute on Cells to Ecosystems: Frontiers in Collaborative Quantitative Physics-Based Multiscale Modeling of Biological Processes, July 8-26, 2013, Porto Alegre, Brazil.

FEA Workshop - Foot & Footwear
This package contains materials for a finite element analysis workshop. The information is geared towards hands-on experience on using the technique for foot biomechanics and footwear design.

Package content includes i) barefoot.cae: two-dimensionalfinite element representation of the barefoot heel pad, ii) barefoot.zip: solution of the barefoot model with default model parameters and loading and boundary conditions, iii) footwear.cae: two-dimensional finite element representation of the heel pad and footwear, iv) footwear.zip: solution of the footwear model with default model parameters and loading and boundary conditions, v) footwear_model_details.pdf: more detailed description of footwear model components, vi) footwear_simulation_tutorial.pdf: step-by-step instructions for changing insole material properties and heel pad compression force and conducting simulations, and vii) workshop_presentation.pdf: slides from workshop presentation This tutorial was developed using Abaqus 6-9-1 (Simulia, Providence, RI) and tested with Abaqus 6-9-2 Student Edition (Simulia, Providence, RI).
