Non-muscle actuators with activity not bounded between 1 and -1 would be useful for all the investigations where a reserve force is needed to equilibrate the system without influencing the muscle recruitment.
For this actuator low optimal force could be set and after full activation is reached (activation = 1)the actuator could still produce force (activation > 1) but it would be strongly penalized by the objective function in static optimization.
