contact doesn't work with more complex geometries

Detailed description
In OpenSim 3.0, I tried the SimTk project "Contact Modeling with OpenSim: a User's Approach" and found that contact works between a plane, sphere, and ellipsoid. However, when using more complex geometries, a plane and femoral cartilage, both created from Meshlab, contact is not recognized during Forward Dynamics.
