Summary:
New scaling implementation to save Vicon-PiG anatomical calibration

Detailed description
Hi,

the default scaling module does not save the Vicon PiG anatomical calibration because Vicon PiG does not assume fix segment lengths. That´s why the scaling unnecessarily inhibits a best reproduction of the Vicon PiG angles. It should be possible to build a specific Vicon-PiG scaling method. I am thinking about to implement such a scaling method. What do you think about this. Is there any interest? Is there somebody who can explain me the needed architecture details to implement it?

best regards
Oliver

Hi Oliver,

Wonderful to hear from you and that you'd like to get involved with the OpenSim development. Here's the big picture in OpenSim:

http://simtk-confluence.stanford.edu:8080/display/OpenSim/How+Scaling+Works

The fixed length segments is a requirement for the multibody system that supports OpenSim (Simbody). Please take a look at the documentation page above and let me know if you have questions. I'd be happy to point you to the API (C++) where most of the work is done but you're also welcome to develop a GUI plugin to experiment with writing your own algorithm (in Java).

Please let me know how you'd like to proceed.
