Summary:
Improved navigation in view window |
Detailed description |
|
Couple of observations on the ease of navigation within the view window of OpenSim (particularly from the perspective of someone used to using other packages).
The first is that both my laptop and its external mice only have two buttons. I thus don't have the ability to translate in the view window. The packages I am used to using allow dragging with left and right buttons clicked and held simultaneously to translate. Could this be added (if only to save me the cost of a new mouse!).
As far as I can see navigation is only about the "origin" of the view window. This can make navigation clunky about specific bones. For example in Tutorial 2 it is difficult to navigate to get good views of the wrist when all the roations occur about the shoulder joint. In the package I'm used toi using you can select a segment and then navigation is based on the origin of that segment. I could thus select one of the bones of the hand and then navigate around it rather than around the shoulder joint.
Finally, I assume other users might have similar feature requests but I can't see a sensible way to search the request database to see if others have reported similar requests and/or whether these have been flagged for development.
This is my first exposure to OpenSim. It looks like a great tool. well done. |
