Verification

Dictionary Definition

[M-W] the process of establishing the truth, accuracy, or validity of something.

Committee Definition

Two parts to Verification: Code and Calculation Verification [ASME V&V10-2006]

code verification: the process of determining that the numerical algorithms are correctly implemented in the computer code and of identifying errors in the software.

calculation verification: the process of determining the solution accuracy of a particular calculation.

Domain Specific Usage

Use of term in biomechanics:

The process of determining that a computational model accurately represents the underlying mathematical model and its solution. In essence, verification is the process of gathering evidence to establish that the computational implementation of the mathematical model and its associated solution are correct. 1 2
