Notes:
- Project description
- Ahmet gave an overview of the project and described its vision.
- Open Knee(s) is an open source development project.
- Community will be involved regularly in the development.
- Simtk's collaborative development environment will be used.
- Wiki organization was described.
- Stanford team will be requested to develop the gateway for computing.
- Cleveland Clinic team will request quotas in XSEDE (High performance computing system) and provide gateway for people to run simulations through web access.
- Authentication of the gateway to XSEDE will be done through Simtk of Stanford University.
- Expectations from University of Utah team
- Utah group will be involved in accomplishing Specific Aim 1 of the grant which is 'To provide an open, freely available, and collaborative development, testing, simulation and dissemination platform for in silico exploration of the biomechanics of healthy and diseased knees.'
- FEBio will be used to run all the simulations.
- Jeff suggested that along with the software platform development and overall grant progress we should focus on publications as well. Identification of suitable journals for publication of Open Knee(s) related work may be necessary.
- Open Knee Generation 1 work will be published as a research article with test cases or as a perspective article.
- Scott Sibole will be taking a lead on the manuscript.
- Joint level simulation related features will need to be improved/ added in FEBio.
Few features can be focused on immediately such as in situ ligament strain implementation and joint coordinate system improvements. Development of these features can potentially lead to publications.
- To support University of Utah's FEBio development efforts, Cleveland Clinic will have a plan to implement the requested features based on priority.
- Scheduling of monthly conference calls
- Conference calls will be every third Wednesday of the month at 3:00 PM EST.
