  2. Jason Halloran
  3. Craig Bennetts
  4. Snehal Chokhandre
  5. Robb Colbrunn
  6. Tara Bonner

Agenda:

  1. Discuss tasks progress.
  2. Discuss specimen transportation device design and options.
  3. Decide date for Biomomentum, Inc. engineer's visit.
  4. Decide tasks for the next meeting.
  5. Other.

Immediate Action Items:

See notes for details.

Notes:

  1. Discuss task progress.
    • Immediate action items and the minutes of the previous meeting were discussed.
      • Robb will prepare information regarding data files and data structures and provide it in the infrastructure pages.
      • Snehal updated the image specifications page with more images for the 3D DESS sequence and contacted Shannon at the University Hospitals for programming the 3D DESS and MESE sequences on the 3T MRI machine.
      • A few material samples were obtained to find an alternative to the brass marker components. These options were discussed later in the meeting as part of imaging specifications.
      • Jason will contact Dr. Winalski to discuss the images obtained at the testing session.
      • Jason and Robb will address the queries in joint testing specifications.
    • Imaging specifications.
      • The T2 proton density sequence will not be used. The 3D DESS sequence works well for cartilage and meniscus. PCL is clearly visible in the images (the specimen was ACL deficient). Snehal will request the University Hospitals engineers to program the 3D DESS and MESE sequences before the next imaging session.
      • In the next imaging session, additional material samples for marker attachments will also be imaged. Among these materials, the glass filled nylon and ultem will be easier to machine and put threads in. The patella marker assembly will likely be modified to a lighter design.
    • Robotics testing specifications.
      • Robb will update the data structure and data file information.
      • Jason will update the patellofemoral joint testing information.
    • Preparation for specimen testing and registration specifications.
      • Ahmet will need to go over the current information and provide feedback.
    • Tissue testing specifications.
      • Snehal will obtain a tendon sample. She will try to cut and prepare the test sample.
    • Pressure sensor calibration.
      • Jason will contact Tekscan, Inc. to follow up his previous inquiries about the sensors.
    • Scott is working on the Open Knee - Generation 1 manuscript and will provide a preliminary document to Ahmet by December 15, 2013.
  2. Discuss specimen transportation device design and options.
    • Craig will obtain foam and PVC samples to design device prototype.
  3. Decide date for Biomomentum, Inc. engineer's visit.
    • December 18, 2013 was chosen by the team. A four hour slot will be sufficient for the demonstration.
    • Robb will confirm the visit details and will also obtain quotes for three machine configurations deemed desirable by the team.
    • Some biological and non-biological samples will be prepared to be tested on the demo machine.
  4. Decide tasks for the next meeting.
    • See immediate action items and notes above for details.
  5. Other.
    • All the FEBio development material will be kept limited to the project members per request by the FEBio development team. Public access will be provided based on FEBio team's publication schedule.
    • Ahmet started to use the include page feature, e.g. for the in situ strain feature development page. This allows to embed text from one page to another. Modifications to the source page will be reflected on the page that includes sections from the source.

    • Ahmet added links for specifications of modeling processes. He also provided a flowchart for the modeling and simulation workflow. The modeling specifications will be finalized by the end of the first grant year.
