Recurring Meeting of Cleveland Clinic Core Team
Date: September 9, 2014
Time: 10:30 AM EST
Means: In person meeting
Attendees:
- Ahmet Erdemir
- Craig Bennetts
- Snehal Chokhandre
- Tara Bonner
Agenda:
- Discuss immediate action items from the last meeting.
- Discuss tissue mechanical testing related issues.
- Decide immediate action items for the next meeting.
- Other.
Immediate Action Items:
Robb & Snehal
- Follow-up with Biomomentum Inc. to resolve data collection issues in Mach-1.
Craig & Ahmet
- Following Open Knee(s) - Generation 1 performance evaluation with FEBio version 2.0, meet to decide pathways to upgrade model scripting approaches.
- Ahmet
- Test user privilege setting to move folders/files in Midas platform.
- Snehal
- Upload collected oks004 tissue testing data to in-house Midas platform.
- Provide tissue testing issues, deviations, etc. in oks004 wiki page.
- Contact XYZ Scientific to upgrade to Truegrid version 3.0.
- All
- Evaluate MR images of oks004.
Notes:
- Discuss immediate action items from the last meeting.
- Tara noted that Robb conducted comparison of pre- and post-experiment calibration comparison. Robb uploaded the results to the Midas platform (comparison of peak pressures) along with the post-experiment calibration file. Robb also updated the wiki page relevant to pressure sensor calibration. Tara noted that Robb and Martin (from Biomomentum Inc.) have been discussing Mach-1 data acquisition issues.
- Tara updated oks004 wiki page to provide a description on why unexpected translations occurred during anterior-posterior laxity testing. She also noted that this issue will be resolved during next round of testing by raising controller gains and allowing more time for the robot to settle at the desired loads. oks004 data should be referred as "anterior-posterior dominant loading" rather than "anterior-posterior laxity".
- Craig renamed MR identify separate sequences and put them in separate folders in Midas.
- Craig committed video reduction script to downsample video data acquired by using the Mach-1 tissue testing system.
Craig converted Open Knee(s) Generation 1 - Specimen 1 version 1-0-1 from FEBio version 1 to FEBio version 2 by using import/export in PreView. The results of simulations with the old and new versions need to be compared. Ahmet and Craig will meet to determine the path forward on FEBio model generating scripts.
- Craig provided a readme file to describe the licensing of MR image renaming code.
- Discussion on action items related to tissue mechanical testing are summarized in the following agenda item.
- Discuss tissue mechanical testing related issues.
- The group had a discussion to design stress relaxation tests with separate sequences of ramp and hold cycles. This will allow data reduction, e.g. collection at 1 Hz during hold cycles. Multiple sequential hold commands may need to be implemented to collect with time varying frequencies. Alternatively, the video data can be collected at highest frequency and downsampling can be handled as a post-processing step.
- Ahmet evaluated the synchronization of force/displacement and video data. Everything seems to be in order.
- Two critical issues for data acquisition remain. Crashing of the system and displacement data jumps during tension testing. Both seem to be related to the use of camera. The team will continue interacting with Martin Garon of Biomomentum, Inc. to resolve these.
- Snehal needs to upload the tissue testing data to Midas and updated relevant sections of oks004 wiki page.
- Ahmet will help Snehal to accommodate large volume tissue testing. Snehal also showed Tara testing of cartilage samples.
- Decide immediate action items for the next meeting.
- Action items were discussed and agreed upon. See Immediate Action Items above.
- Other.
- New specimen has arrived, a wiki page needs to be created for it, e.g. oks005.
- Schedule joint level testing for every month until June 2015. Snehal will coordinate with the Open Knee(s) team and collaborating groups for scheduling.
- Craig noted that with his Midas permissions he cannot move folders. Ahmet thinks this may be an issue related to user permissions; he will resolve it. A user may need to be an administrator (rather than a moderator) to conduct such operations.
- Snehal will contact XYZ Scientific Inc. to evaluate the feasibility of upgrading to Truegrid version 3.0. This will likely resolve license server issues and may help meshing of geometries saved in large size STL files.
- The Open Knee(s) team have access to high performance computing within the Cleveland Clinic. While available only for internal use, the facility allows performing computationally demanding simulations.
- Ahmet needs to port Katie's documentation on cruciate ligament modeling steps to Open Knee(s) wiki pages.
- The team needs to write various utility scripts; to obtain tissue material properties from tissue testing data, to come up with loading profiles from joint testing data, to assist segmentation, etc. Many of these activities can be part of community projects.
