    • Schedule imaging for the remainder of the year.
  • Robb
    • Conduct post-experiment calibration of pressure sensor used for oks008 testing.
  • All Students
    • Update/review image segmentation and geometry generation specifications.
  • Connor
    • Finish segmenting registration markers.
    • Update registration error estimation script relying on marker distances and angles.
    • Complete definition of springs between tibia and menisci in Open Knee(s) - Generation 1 model.
  • Diana
    • Continue working with Tara to complete verification of contact pressure analysis with Robb and Tara (using Tekscan original files).
    • Complete definition of springs between MCL and medial meniscus in Open Knee(s) - Generation 1 model.
  • Omar
    • Talk to Raghav on the implementation of springs in the Open Knee(s) - Generation 1 file.
    • Complete definition of springs to represent transverse ligaments between menisci in Open Knee(s) - Generation 1 model.
  • Raghav
    • Work with Snehal on background and lighting of the specimen for minimizing uncertainties in thickness measurement.
    • Complete features for removal of artificial thickness measurements.
    • Meet Omar and start learning FEBio for future implementation of springs to represent additional structures.

Ongoing Action Items:

  • Ahmet
    • Dissemination of joint mechanics testing data.
    • Prepare flowcharts to describe data flow for pre-processing of joint kinematics/kinetics data.
  • Craig
    • Anatomical imaging manuscript.
    • Large-scale analysis of simulation parameters for convergence.
  • Snehal
    • Continue interacting up with Biomomentum, Inc. about mechanical testing system tuning features.
    • Complete the additional structured testing plan for tuning the system for different sample sizes, strain levels and strain rates.
    • Pivot shift manuscript.
    • Cruciate ligament modeling & simulation.

    • Evaluate alternative tissue testing strategy.
  • Robb
    • Patellofemoral joint experimentation manuscript.
  • Tara
    • Tibiofemoral joint experimentation manuscript.

Notes:

  1. Discuss immediate action items from the last meeting.
    • Ahmet described the updated image segmentation specifications. Mainly, tissue labeling. Details can be found at Specifications/ImageSegmentation. For now different numbers can be used at the end of the label for different versions of same tissue.
    • Craig will update sample MRIs for oks008.
    • Snehal will continue to test trial (non oks) tissue samples at 20%/s strain rate. The hold times for trials will be reduced to 2 mins from 30 mins.
    • A camera and required lens were ordered to build the optical thickness measurement system. Raghav will take the items once delivered.
    • Robb will conduct post-experiment calibration of pressure sensor used for oks008 testing.
    • Connor changed scripts to accommodate for patella registration marker. HE also compared distances between markers. Ahmet suggested determinining percent error and angles between the markers as well.
    • Diana met with Robb to verify contact pressure measurements from script with Tekscan software.
    • Omar met with Connor and Diana to describe implementation of springs in the Open Knee(s) - Generation 1 file.
    • Raghav updated the thickness measurement script to manually remove measurements that aren't correct. He will work with Snehal to test image acquisition environments.
    • Diana, Omar and Connor are also working on adding spring elements to Open Knee gen1 model. ( Omar: transverse ligament, Diana: medial meniscus to MCL, Connor: menisci to tibia).
  2. Discuss research student assignments for the remaining term.
    • All students will continue working on adding springs to openknee gen 1 model.
    • they will also continue to segment oks image data sets.
    • Connor will segment registration markers for all specimens.
    • Diana will continue to segment all bones.
    • Omar will focus on segmenting cartilage and meniscus.
    • Raghav will work on segmenting ligaments.
    • All students will also segment all bones and cartilage for oks001 for user variation comparison.
    • All students were advised to document the method they are using for segmentation in a readme file in appropriate folder.
  3. Decide immediate action items for the next meeting.
    • See Immediate Action Items above.
  4. Other.
    • Final presentations for students were discussed.
    • All work should be presented in parts (3 parts for 3 projects (data processing script, segmentation, model)). With each part made up of introduction, methods, results, discussion
    • Ahmet also asked all mid-term presentations to be put in 'Summer2015/doc/' folder in the repository.
