Notes:
- Discuss immediate action items from the last meeting.
- Ahmet tried to disseminate joint mechanics data for oks003 and oks008. He identified a couple folders in the tibiofemoral joint testing data of oks003 where the measurements were not processed and converted to the physical left knee coordinate systems. Robb will fix this issue. When Ahmet tried to work on the dissemination of oks008, he realized that the zip file for the tibiofemoral joint testing, which was previously uploaded to the in house data management system, was empty. Tara will upload raw tibiofemoral joint testing data for oks003 again for further organization and dissemination. Ahmet has not worked on oks004 yet. oks007 still misses a post-experiment calibration of pressure sensor to complete the patellofemoral joint testing data. Robb will provide this.
- Ahmet still has to prepare flowcharts to describe data flow for pre-processing of joint kinematics/kinetics data.
- Ahmet contacted the Advisory Board to schedule a meeting during November 2015. He will follow up.
- Craig did not have a chance to explore hexahedral meshing workflows in Salome for STL surfaces.
- Craig focused his attention on documenting his findings on the convergence of Open Knee(s) - Generation 1 model when using springs to stabilize menisci. The group went over the wiki page to evaluate Craig's findings. Craig simulated passive flexion up to 90 degrees in 1 s. Model without any springs converged up to 12 degrees of flexion. It seemed like stabilization of the menisci helped convergence. This indicates that convergence issues of related to Open Knee(s) - Generation 1 may be due to free floating behavior of the menisci. Ahmet noted that previously, during slower flexion rate, the simulations have completed to 45 degrees (in 1 s) without the springs. He asked Craig to conduct simulations without springs up to 45 degrees flexion (in 1 s), then up to 90 degrees flexion (in 2 s) and in following conduct the simulations with springs again.
- Craig incorporated text from his abstract to the anatomical imaging. Ahmet asked him to also prepare a list of paragraphs, figures, and tables to outline a detailed draft.
- Snehal went over meshing documentation provided by Craig to successfully reproduce the meshing strategy with the upgraded Salome.
- When trying to get image samples using the optical tissue thickness measurement system, Snehal realized that when using the zoom lens the camera needs to be placed far. She asked for purchasing a lens similar to that used by the tissue testing system to utilize with the thickness measurement system. Robb will assist this purchase.
- Snehal arranged a table for the optical tissue thickness measurement system and looked into ordering a basic computer.
- Robb uploaded the processed joint mechanics data for oks003 for representation in the physical left knee coordinate systems. Ahmet realized a few folders were not processed. Robb will work on this and also to provide post-experiment calibration file for oks007 in regard to contact pressure measurement.
- Ahmet asked Robb to prepare a list of paragraphs, figures, and tables to outline a detailed draft of the patellofemoral joint testing manuscript.
- Tara incorporated the outline discussed in the previous meeting for the tibiofemoral joint testing manuscript. Ahmet asked Tara to complete the draft by preparing a list of paragraphs, figures, and tables.
- Will downloaded Open Knee(s) - Generation 2 - Specimen 1 data. He found documentation adequate. He was able to navigate the wiki to extract more information in regard to specimen, testing protocols, and data file contents and formats.
- Discuss potential publications.
- See notes above in the discussion of immediate action items from the last meeting.
- Discuss tissue testing protocol evaluation progress.
- Snehal has been working on Python script for tissue testing. She also wanted to review all wiki pages related to tissue testing.
- Snehal informed the group that one of the specimen suppliers will not able to provide specimens with desired characteristics. Ahmet and Robb recommended her to contact other suppliers, e.g. NDRI, Life Legacy. Robb sent her an e-mail with a list of alternative specimen sources. The group may also want to look into specimen acquisition options through Cleveland Clinic.
- Decide immediate action items for the next meeting.
- See Immediate Action Items above.
