Notes:
- Discuss immediate action items from the last meeting.
- Ahmet updated the image segmentation wiki specifications to provide tips for manual segmentation.
- Ahmet needs to complete segmentation of the MCL for oks001.
- Ahmet started reviewing the specifications wiki page for geometry generation. He liked the outline. He added new headings for tissue specific treatment. He asked Craig to start filling in these areas and provide tissue-specific recommended settings. He noted that as the page evolves, it may be more appropriate to move the results section in a separate discussion page.
- Craig spend his time mostly on contact pressure analysis using Python. He cleaned up the script and provided sample results, which differed from Robb's analysis. In a previous e-mail, Ahmet mentioned that the pressure data in csv files may be in MPa rather than raw, which would indicate that the scale factor should not be used. Robb also mentioned that for peak pressure calculation, Tekscan export utilizes the average of 2x2 sensels rather than a single sensel. The group decided that once these are accommodated the pressure analysis script should match that of Robb's analysis based on Tekscan export. Craig will update the script and work on an output format to store results. In following, all oks specimens should be processed and the results should be committed to relevant source code repository folders.
- Craig needs to continue implementing recommendations on the imaging manuscript.
- Craig has been exploring resampling of surface geometries for meshing at different densities. He will document his experience in the geometry generation specifications.
- Snehal tried to cut cartilage samples both with cryostat and with vibratome. With the cryostat samples started cracking. The group discussed potential options for cutting the cartilage samples. Referencing the superficial side on vibratome without gluing it is problematic. Ahmet recommended that we should try our best but also document the geometry of the sample, e.g. width and thickness profiles, once it is placed on the testing machine. This will allow conducting inverse finite element analysis, when and if needed.
- Another discussion topic related to Snehal's work on tissue sampling was fiber orientation. Snehal will explore quick determination of fiber alignment to cut samples in appropriate directions.
- Snehal showed the most recent XML convention for the optical tissue thickness measurement system. The group discussed the organization and naming schemes. Based on Snehal's sample file, Ahmet noted desired naming, which he will send to Snehal.
- Snehal went over the wiki page on protocol evaluation of tissue experimentation. She can start working on the additional tests required for evaluation. Ahmet asked her to acquire additional specimens, if she needs for this purpose.
- Jason is still working on the background for patellofemoral joint testing manuscript.
- Ahmet recommended Robb to include calibration/recalibration of pressure sensor as part of technical validation in the patellofemoral joint testing manuscript.
- Tara worked on passive flexion data of tibiofemoral joint testing and documented range of off-axis motions in anatomical joint coordinate system and in optimized joint coordinate system. Ahmet noted that this information deviates from the article's goal, i.e. providing tibiofemoral joint testing data rather than comparing performance of different coordinate systems. He recommended plotting passive flexion data, all represented in the anatomical joint coordinate system. A group of plots can be prepared; each plot focusing on one degree-of freedom against flexion angle, where all specimens' responses can be visualized.
- Discuss tissue mechanical testing protocol evaluation.
- See discussions above on immediate action items from previous meeting.
- Decide immediate action items for the next meeting.
- See Immediate Action Items above.
- Other.
- Will updated tdmsParser to extract desired points of interest from the whole loading profile.
