Recurring Meeting of Cleveland Clinic Core Team

Date: April 5, 2016

Time: 10:30 AM EST

Means: In person meeting

Attendees:

  1. Ahmet Erdemir
  2. Craig Bennetts
  3. Snehal Chokhandre
  4. Robb Colbrunn
  5. Tara Bonner

Agenda:

  1. Discuss immediate action items from the last meeting.
  2. Evaluate second drafts for data manuscripts.
  3. Discuss progress of tissue testing protocol evaluation.
  4. Decide immediate action items for the next meeting.
  5. Other.

Immediate Action Items:

  • Ahmet
    • Review the draft of anatomical imaging manuscript.
    • Review the draft of tibiofemoral joint testing manuscript.
    • Submit progress report.
    • Schedule Advisory Board review meeting.
  • Craig
    • Finalize addition of sample images to geometry generation specifications.
    • Generate raw surfaces for oks001 tissue geometries.
  • Craig & Robb

    • Work together to generate of aggregated contact pressure plots for patellofemoral joint manuscript.
  • Snehal
    • Continue with tissues testing evaluation protocols.
    • Continue providing quantitative information in conclusions sections of tissue testing evaluation page.
  • Jason
    • Provide the background for the patellofemoral joint testing manuscript.
  • Robb
    • Complete the first draft of the patellofemoral joint testing manuscript.
  • Tara
    • Review ongoing draft of the patellofemoral joint testing manuscript.

Ongoing Action Items:

  • Ahmet
    • Prepare flowcharts to describe data flow for pre-processing of joint kinematics/kinetics data.
  • Craig
    • Anatomical imaging manuscript.
    • Large-scale analysis of simulation parameters for convergence.
  • Snehal
    • Add citations and summaries to tissue data papers to the wiki for potential use to model tissue properties.
    • Pivot shift manuscript.
    • Cruciate ligament modeling & simulation.

  • Robb
    • Patellofemoral joint experimentation manuscript.
  • Tara
    • Tibiofemoral joint experimentation manuscript.

Notes:

  1. Discuss immediate action items from the last meeting.
    • Craig attached images for each tissue type in the geometry generation specifications. He will complete the registration markers and provide pictures of assembled geometries.
    • Craig corrected pressure analysis script to resolve unit mismatches in labeling and committed the updated code and resultant plots to the repository.
    • Robb and Craig still need to meet to discuss contact pressure figures for the patellofemoral joint testing manuscript.
    • Snehal tested a sample with increased find contact force (5g) and using a sampling frequency of 2.5 kHz. She conducted two unconfined compression tests on one cartilage samples - day 1 and day 2. Sample thickness was 1.957 mm in day 1 and 1.966 mm in day 2. She showed the raw data and the data filtered with a third order low pass Butterworth filter (using Python)with 100Hz cutoff frequency. Craig recommended her to use finite impulse response filter to avoid phase shift. Filtering seemed to resolve noise due to machine vibration. Snehal will use the filtered data to calculate moduli and compare.
    • Snehal needs to discuss the issues with the 150g load cell and the machine vibration with Martin Garon of Biomomentum Inc. Robb noted that the Mach-1 data acquisition box may allow inserting a signal conditioner to conduct analog filtering.
  2. Evaluate second drafts for data manuscripts.
    • Craig sent Ahmet the second draft of the anatomical imaging manuscript. Ahmet needs to review.
    • Robb asked for the team's input for generating figures for the patellofemoral joint testing manuscript. Craig will write a modified Python script for subplotting a set of images. Input arguments to the script may include number of rows and columns, the maximum pressure for the color scale and unit conversion to MPa. Craig will work on generating the figure.
    • Robb will follow up with Jason to get his input for the patellofemoral joint testing manuscript.
    • Tara finished the second draft of the tibiofemoral joint testing manuscript. Ahmet will review it. In the meanwhile, Tara will review the patellofemoral joint manuscript.
  3. Discuss progress of tissue testing protocol evaluation.
    • See relevant notes in the discussions of immediate action items from the last meeting.
  4. Decide immediate action items for the next meeting.
    • See Immediate Action Items above.
  5. Other.
    • An imaging session was scheduled for another project at the time of next week's meeting. The group meeting was therefore cancelled. Ahmet will have a brief meeting with Snehal (and anyone else interested) to discuss tissue testing.
