Re: Inverse Dynamics and Muscle Analysis Moment Differences
Hi Caitlin, How are you computing the muscle forces (ie Static Optimization, CMC etc)? If you are just running inverse dynamics and then analyzing the resulting .mot file, you have not actually calculated muscle forces required to generate the motion. I am not positive, but I think the muscle forces...

Re: Joints in Lumbar Spine model
Hi Michele, This somewhat depends on what you are planning to do with the model. Can you tell us what your research question is and what types of simulations you are looking to perform? Accounting for the axial and rotational stiffness of the discs should be relatively straight forward using the bus...

Re: SO tradeoff for heavy resistance training - stonger muscles or allow higher activation
In my experience the Arnold model gives high passive muscle forces especially at extreme joint angles (quads in deep knee flexion for example). If you increase the the max iso strength 5x, I think you will find some extreme passive forces, so be sure to double check this. One option to fix this is t...

Re: marker weight
This is actually a much tougher question than it seems on the surface. I am not aware of any studies which explicitly look at this, but the values you use will certainly affect the results of inverse kinematics. I would start with using the weights used in the tutorials, these are similar to what we...

Re: Joint reaction analysis in prosthetic gait model
If you run inverse dynamics does the right knee joint torque look reasonable?
Just a guess, but may want to check the ground reaction forces on the right side.

Re: Performing RRA on cycling data
Hi Adrian, Since you have not measured the reaction forces at the seat or handle bars (nor have many other researchers) and applied them to your simulation, it is not surprising that the residuals are giving you troubles (even without the upper body masses included). As far as I have seen, the major...

OpenSim with Windows 10
Hi all, I'm considering upgrading a windows 8 computer to windows 10, but want to make sure OpenSim will still work. Has anyone tested OpenSim on windows 10? On windows 8 I still have a problem with viewing wrapping surfaces: https://simtk.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=91&t=4800&p=11672&hilit=java.lang...

Re: Medial and Lateral Contact Forces
BJ, Thanks for the info the the eTibia calibration equations. I could not find any equations in the sixth grand challenge data set README.txt files. However, I was able to find the equations Felicia mentioned above in the 2nd grand challenge data set, so I assume these are OK to use for subject DM f...
