Re: Modelling the meniscus for FE analysis

Hi Fahim, I don't have much experience in using FeBio studio. The current version of models is built for FeBio 2.9 (https://simtk.org/plugins/datashare/?group_id=485 (OKS_models), https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9832097/ ) . I don't think there is much difference in the format of the .f...

Re: Joint origin OKS002

Hi Janne,

Please see updated models here, https://simtk.org/plugins/datashare/?group_id=485 (OKS_models) and related details here, https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/36104640/

Thanks,
Snehal

Re: Question about Rigid Connectors

Hi David, It is a little challenging to figure out convergence issues in a complex model like this, they may be resulting from over/under constrained rigid bodies among other things. I would recommend you use one of the generation 2 models found here - https://simtk.org/plugins/datashare/?group_id=4...

Re: Question about Rigid Connectors

Hi Marloes, Sorry about the delay. Yes, In cylindrical connectors, translations and rotations are limited along/around the axis. For the oks models you are using, the IE axis is along the z- axis for convenience ( anatomical landmarks were picked from 3D geometries we created for the specimens, to d...

Re: Question about Ligament Forces

Hi Yidan,

Sorry about the delayed response. I heard from Steve and it looks like there is no way currently to separate nodal reaction forces from the rigid body forces in FEBio. He is looking into finding a solution to that.

Best,
Snehal

Re: Question about Ligament Forces

Hi Yidan, I think you can get reaction forces at the nodes that have a prescribed displacement (e.g. ligament-bone ties) to get the reaction forces at the ligament. Use the following edit in the log file section in the .feb file, <node_data data="Rx;Ry;Rz"></node_data> However, this might still be t...

Re: Question about Rigid Connectors

Hi Marloes, The three cylindrical joints create a linkage system between the tibia and femur. When you apply compressive force at cylindrical joint between the tibia and TFTO (applying force on tibia), you apply an equal and opposite force on the femur through the linkages. So, if you removed one of...

Re: Can't get simulations to finish

hello Kazuki, Thank you for the detailed analysis. 1. In my experience the same feb file should run on either platforms using the same febio version. 2. Yes, I would recommend using the most current versions of Preview (2.0) and FEBio. I have had difficulties opening .feb files in preview and .xplt ...
