Re: Bone/Segment Local Coordinate System

I was thrown off because some of the bone files don't have an actual origin (0,0,0) line, which just meant that their LCS is off the bone. Hi Dann what do you mean by "bone file"? cause I'm searching for such a thing in OpenSim to find the relation between my FEM bone & OpenSim bone to reach the pr...

Re: Microgravity experiment

Hi, Tuhin- 1) How to change the thickness of bone which is a similar case to osteoporosis. There is no concept of bone thickness in OpenSim. The bones you see on screen are for display and guidance only. Often, people will perform an OpenSim simulation to get joint contact and muscles forces then i...

Re: Scaling

I post this for future reference Bones in vtp format can't be used for any calculation, they're just for visualization. How can I import my patient-specific bone to OpenSim?

Hello everyone

I have constructed a patient's femur based on CT scan files, how can I import this bone to OpenSim?

Regards,
Yunus

Re: How to find muscle attachments and lines of action on a patient specific FE model?

Hello, The bone geometry is used exclusively for visualization rather than for any computation, so the quality of the meshes has no role to play in modeling of muscles or their attachments (other than eye-balling where the muscles attach). Hope this helps, -Ayman Thanks, Ayman, that was quite helpf...

How to find muscle attachments and lines of action on a patient specific FE model?

Femur bone shape in OpenSim (just like other bones) is too coarse and doesn't match a patient-specific CT-based bone model , in detail even when it is scaled. Muscle Force Direction plugin gives you muscle attachment points and lines of action for scaled osim model while neither bone geometry nor mu...

Re: Opensim output

Hello Zeinab
Welcome to OpenSim community!

you can use Muscle Force Direction plugin to extract muscle line of action and attachment points(origin/insertion).
Notice that this plugin only works with OpenSim 3.3 currently.

Best.

Re: 1 grand force reaction division between 2 legs

The problem is impossible to solve without more information (it's analogous to asking for any two integers that sum to 10). Depending on your research question, you could try assuming that the GRF is evenly split between the two legs if the COP is midway between the feet, 100% applied to a single l...

1 grand force reaction division between 2 legs

Hey everybody

Standing with both legs on a force plate gives you a single ground force reaction some where between two soles.
How can I divide this single force to the both legs of my model?
thanks.

Re: Muscle-Force-Direction plugin

You can use the BodyAnalysis, which reports the position and orientation of the body local frames with respect to the ground frame. Otherwise, you can attach markers on the bodies and then get their location in the ground frame (e.g. PointKinematics analysis). If you need to express these points in...
