Inverse Kinematics Error

Hello, I normally use inverse kinematics and get maximum marker error of less than 4cm as per the documentation. However, I am now trying squat movements and whatever I do (including changing weights) the maximum error does not go below 6cm for some part of the movement. Is that much error okay? Or ...

CMC Muscle Activations Meaning/Adjustment

Hello, How do CMC muscle activations work/what does their amplitude mean? i.e. what does an activation of 1 mean? Is it MVC for example, or what? I am trying to compare the muscle controls with EMG data (which is normalized to the maximum during gait), but I have no idea as to how the amplitudes sho...

Simulation in Elderly - CMC & Metabolics

Hello, I am running simulations for elderly subjects (70+) using the gait2392 model. Should I make any changes to the model to get better CMC and metabolics results? I am expecting a higher cost of walking for elderly, but I didn't seem to find any changes while using the same model. It is suggested...

Re: NaN force data in .mot file after using c3dExport code

Hi! Force plate data is not always valid when the foot is not in contact with it, so I used a text editor and replaced NaNs with zeros!

CMC Results Validation

Hello, I followed the OpenSim pipeline for a walking model - scaling, IK, ID, RRA, and CMC. I got good results, that correlated well to the published data and also had low residuals and pErr. I am now trying to compare the CMC results with the published EMG (which is normalized to the gait cycle and...

Re: Scaling - Low Error but Wrong Posture

Thank you Hans, yeah I don't have any upper-body markers, and it was almost my first attempt at scaling. Eventually I ended up removing the torso viewtopic.php?f=91&t=17849&sid=129db9d5 ... f7cbfcd01a, any further insights are welcome!

Re: Inverse Dynamics Without Torso

Ah I didn't even notice, thank you so much! I am attaching a sheet with a comparison between OpenSim results and the results published by C. Fukuchi et al. using Visual 3D. I am assuming the results are not way far off, are they? And now what tools can I run on this torso-less model? You previously ...

Re: Inverse Dynamics Without Torso

Hi and thank you for your reply. For some reason I am unable to save the scaled model, so I am attaching the scale setup file, IK output file, and ID results as .xlsx (couldn't attach .sto).

Inverse Dynamics Without Torso

Hello, I have just started using OpenSim with data other than that of the tutorials. I have lower body marker data, so I modified the gait2392 model, removing the torso and associated muscles. I ran the scale tool successfully, and then inverse kinematics, all fine (max error ~4.2cm). When I run the...

Re: Torso Scaling

Thank you for your reply. Based on your response and the linked discussions, I decided to keep using the gait2392 model, but remove its torso and connected muscles. I ran scaling using the remaining mass. For some reason I am unable to save scaled models, so I am attaching the original model and the...
