Hi James,
Thanks for your help, that explains it nicely.

CMC and muscles crossing multiple joints
Hello, I am hoping someone would be able to explain how CMC accounts for the torque caused by muscles that cross multiple coordinates. I just want to make sure that I know what is going on. If I understand correctly, CMC uses static optimization to distribute the load for a desired acceleration, and...

Re: Including EMG data in a CMC simulation
Hello,
I am just wondering if you have found an answer to this question? I realize it was a while ago, but if you have I would be very interested in hearing about it.
Thanks

Static Optimization and Locked Coordinates
Hello, I was hoping to find some information about the effect of locking coordinates on the outcome of static optimization. Specifically, does locking a coordinate exclude it from the optimization solution entirely? I have observed that the activation of actuators crossing locked coordinates go to a...

Muscle Force from Static Optimization vs. Force Reporter
Hello, I am hoping for some clarification on the difference between the muscle forces from Static Optimization and from the Force Reporter in the Analysis tool. I Believe I understand the method for Static Optimization, I am unsure however about the Force Reporter. In the ForceReporter.cpp source co...

Re: RRA ends with incomplete results
Ayman,
I am using the Thelen2003Muscle model.
I have submitted a bug report as per your request (ID# 1882-CMC computes initial result then closes without error).
Thanks so much for your help.

Re: RRA ends with incomplete results
Hello, Thank you for your suggestion Ayman, it was helpful indeed. I have simplified the model to only include the 4 muscles that control the MCP joint of the index finger. From this, I have been able to run Static Optimization and receive reasonable results. However, when I try to run CMC for the s...

Re: RRA ends with incomplete results
Hi Ayman, Thanks so much for your quick response! I must apologize for the ambiguity. In reference to replacing the muscle types, I have tried this for when I run Static Optimization, and CMC (which are also not producing expected results). Initially, I was hoping to use RRA to reduce the residual f...

RRA ends with incomplete results
Hello, I am using the upper extremity model in OpenSim Version 3.1, and applying an external force at the finger tip. When I try to use the RRA tool, it runs for 0.02s (of the requested 9s) and then finishes. Through the command line, with verbose printing on, it completes without an error message a...

Inverse Dynamics - output_body_forces_file
Hello, I am running the ID tool in OpenSim version 3.1 and I am just looking to get some information about what the tag <output_body_forces_file> is giving me. It seems that it is creating the body_forces_at_joints.sto, and in that there are 6 columns of data for each coordinate in the model. (_FX,_...
