Re: Link between credibility and statements of model uses

In the years of M&S (good and bad) in defense and presumably NASA there has been GREAT difficulty communicating the concept of the purpose (Spirit and Intent) of the need to determine the creditability of a model. It is unfortunate that we did not start out M&S with a new word creditablyforeachuse. ...

Re: Definitions: Building a Glossary

A little on the caustic side. It would help if the community BANNED the phrase, "for the purpose of this (study, paper, project) XXX is defined as YYYYY ......" Else, no glossary can ever keep up. Starting today, if you can't find and reference the source for context for definition that does not des...

Re: Need for the committee

I would add that if one looks under the covers in DOD and NASA, they will find guidelines for M&S firmly rooted in the work of some of the first computer/mathematical modelers who had enough computing power (duel processors) to even try to execute code for a simulation based on a model. There are tw...

Re: Decision and Simulation Modeling in Systematic Reviews

Just saw this Lockheed Martin (marketing) piece that seemed to be related to the topic. I am a bit out of my domain of expertise but... Let me see if I have this right. The humans who do Systematic Reviews of literature to try to make conceptual models they call protocols based on crude historical d...

Re: Ten simple rules of credible practice

New rule candidate. Don't think I have seen this in your list nor anywhere else until this book. (also posted under user perspective) Thou shalt not distribute a model or output from a model that has ever produced unexpected results that have not been document, investigated and explained. (JR) Quote...

Re: Ten Simple Rules - End Users Perspective

The statement of a 'rule' may be simple and should be. The difficulty is in interpretation of what the rule mean to whom and under what conditions, and for what KIND of model or simulation. (Hummm, will there be two sets of rules? one for models and one for simulation using a model, or will the term...

Re: Decision and Simulation Modeling in Systematic Reviews

I have distributed this to several of the M&S academic degree granting institutions. Have had interest expressed in responding to it. This is a great way to give M&S professionals a view of things that are potentially good uses for simulation in medical domains along with insight into the issues of ...
