OpenSim-related postdoc open

Hello, I have a new postdoctoral researcher job open on my team in the UK. Given the pandemic, it can run entirely remotely (through at least Sept 2021; potential 6 month extension) as it is all digital research. We are looking for an experienced programmer in simulation and/or optimal control theor...

Re: OpenSim 3.3 to 4.0 import problem

Thanks for the help, Ayman! And the emails. The problem was indeed the OBJs and a simple issue of them being too many MB in size, so decimating them resolved that and all is well in the world again (on a very localized scale). I am posting this followup so that others might learn of this (now obviou...

OpenSim 3.3 to 4.0 import problem

Hi, I've bashed my head against the wall enough trying to solve this so maybe the forum can? OpenSim 3.3 models normally open fine in 4.0 for me. We've made a new model that also opens fine in 3.3 but in 4.0 when it loads it shows nothing in the visualizer (not even a blank area where a model should...

OpenSim-related postdoc open

Hello, I am searching for a postdoc ideally with sophisticated dynamic simulation experience; OpenSim + optimal control theory would be ideal. I have a postdoc on the DAWNDINOS project ( https://www.dawndinos.com ) advertised now: 2+ yrs, fun team, London area, non-EEA applicants OK, need published ...

Re: "best practice" for tuning Opensim models

Thank you Apoorva! Interesting points. Yes I like that in-situ approach to setting slack lengths from the experimental fiber lengths; it is maybe the best I've seen in the literature. We may use it ourselves if we can manage with our small animals. I am a bit baffled though by hearing from 1 researc...

Re: "best practice" for tuning Opensim models

Thank you James! Fully agreed on the broader points of fitting simulation complexity to the question and the importance of validation; and not over-stating the implications of simulation results. I probably should not have posted during Thanksgiving but in the UK we had a late turkey dinner, so my b...

Re: "best practice" for tuning Opensim models

Yeah I re-read that while writing the post and didn't find that it directly answered the questions I was thinking of (yet it touches on them), although we refer to it a lot for other things!

"best practice" for tuning Opensim models

Hello, My team uses Opensim to study animal musculoskeletal function. I've been perusing the human-based literature with much interest over the years, and recently in discussions my team came up with one broad question that we can't find very clearly addressed in the literature. So I thought I'd pos...

Postdoc in Biomechanics job; involves OpenSim

Hello, my team in the UK has a postdoc job open now: https://jobs.rvc.ac.uk/Vacancy.aspx?ref=CBS-0243-17 This is in animal locomotor biomechanics, and published experience using OpenSim (which we use) or similar computational modelling/simulation methods is essential, so I am posting this job link h...
