Re: Can a body have 2 joints?
So in the case of the pelvis, the body object only has one associated joint in the xml code (pelvis to trunk). The two leg joints are actually associated with each femur body object. They connect and I suppose they would be considered pelvis joints. I guess what I am asking is can a single body obje...

Can a body have 2 joints?
I am trying to create a mesh type system in OpenSim that can contract and extend when forces act upon it. In real life, each body segment in the system would have three joints on it. I have no idea if OpenSim lets you do this but It seems like it would be rather complicated to accomplish. Any help i...

Re: Modeling a cable
Thank you for the suggestions. Would this method work with a forward dynamics simulation? (I am still fairly new to OpenSim and in no way a programmer, so I still only have a vague understanding of the software).

Modeling a cable
I am trying to model a cable that would replace a tendon, but the cable is inflexible (i.e. it does not stretch). In OpenSim, I am trying to use a ligament for this, but ligaments stretch and since this is programmed in to OpenSim, I am having a hard time controlling this stretch. What can I do to m...

Muscle Excursion Help-Deadline Tomorrow(4/15/14)
I am working with a forearm tendon transfer model and I would like to be able to tell the ECRL muscle exactly how much excursion it should go through in a forward dynamics simulation, but I have no idea how to do so. Is there a way to limit the muscle excursion length such that it can be set to a sp...

Forward Dynamics Simulation Issues
I am having a problem regarding the forward dynamics simulation of a hand closing around a ball. The hand is supposed to be initially at rest with finger joint angles of 45, 45, and 10 degrees (proximal to distal), and is then supposed to close around the ball. One muscle actuates all 4 fingers. No ...
