coordinate limit forces to limit range of motion?
Hi all, I am trying to add coordinate limit forces (CLFs) to my model of a flapping bird wing, to restrict the range of motion at the shoulder joint (i.e., my custom joint has no restrictions but in reality there is a limited range). For each coordinate (elevation-depression, protraction-retraction,...

CMC muscle excitation controls
Hi all, I'm trying to constrain the times at which my muscles are activated, because CMC is activating them for too much of the stroke cycle. I used the excitation editor to make an xml file, and then I loaded that under the "actuator constraints" part of the CMC GUI, then ran CMC. My results don't ...

modeling bipennate muscles
I am modeling a bipennate muscle where the internal tendon does not extend all the way to the muscle's origin — i.e., it starts at about 25% of the length of the musculotendon unit and then continues all the way to the insertion. In terms of modeling, is it best to place the origin at the actual ori...

elastic energy
Hello, all! I am working on a model of a flapping bird wing, and I want to use CMC to figure out if two particular tendons are storing and releasing elastic energy. I've gotten CMC to work, and the muscle-tendon units in question certainly seem to be behaving like "anatogonistic" springs, in that th...

Re: prescribe motion in model
Yes, I am still having the problem. Not sure how to update the file path, especially since the original file no longer exists... Any suggestions? Thanks!

prescribe motion in model
Hello, all, I am using matlab to add prescribed motion to my model (prescribeMotionInModel.m). I got the function to work once, but now I am trying to prescribe motion for a different set of kinematics (different mot file) and matlab is giving results for my original mot file. When I look at the out...

CMC error
Hi! I'm just getting started with CMC. I have all of the necessary files made (I think!), but when I try to run CMC I keep getting an error that says, "Exception in analyze: AnalyzeTool.initializeFromFiles. Either a states file or a coordinates file must be specified." Does that mean something is wr...

DLASD4 error?
Hi all, I'm trying to use the static optimization tool, and I keep getting an error that says something like, "on entry to DLASD4 parameter number -1 had an illegal value". Does anyone know what this means? Inverse dynamics works fine, I've added all the appropriate actuators, and I've adjusted ever...

Re: Inverse dynamics problem
Thanks! That particular issue turned out to be a filtering problem after all, so problem fixed. Now, however, I'm running into a different error, even with the (apparent) sampling frequency (external load) increased. Inverse dynamics is working fine, but static optimization is not. I've tried adjust...
