Re: Maintaining ribcage and scapula alignment after patient-specific alignment implementation
This is all (admittedly) drawing on "a previous life", but I am ~certain of the following: - The angles you put in are relative to the lower vertebrae and not Horizontal. This is how OpenSim reports angles, so that is how you have to put them in. We got (I believe; as Brett Allaire usually did this)...

Re: Maintaining ribcage and scapula alignment after patient-specific alignment implementation
I believe your just having scaling issues and all that you may need to do is "lock' the ribs and spine coordinates prior to scaling (and then unlock them after). The code I attached for Riza is for more advanced customization of models. I did not post it as a 'plug and play' type thing, rather just ...

Re: Maintaining ribcage and scapula alignment after patient-specific alignment implementation
Riza, Yeah, this is bringing back memories (been awhile since I addressed and had to deal with this). If I recall, you have to adjust each rib the equal/opposite amount you adjust each vertebra. Then for the scapula/head etc. it is the sum all of the changes made to the spine. I've attached the Matl...

Re: Recommended setup/modifications to optimize forward dynamics?
Brandon, Thank you for your interest in this model and kind words. As for forward simulations, you are correct, we are unaware of anything published using this model. Since I left the Anderson Lab I do know that he worked with another student on something in MOCO, but unsure how far that got or if t...

Re: Thoracolumbar spine and rib cage full body model in OpenSim :The simulation procedure
Randheer, Thank you for your interest in our model. The steps you asked about are described in detail on the OpenSim webpage. I won't be able to explain things any better. https://opensimconfluence.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/OpenSim/pages/53085189/Working+with+Static+Optimization You can create your ...

Re: Understanding intervertebral disc reaction forces
https://simtk.org/plugins/phpBB/viewtopicPhpbb.php?f=91&t=7057&p=18635&start=0&view= The above link should answer your question better than I did. In brief, all you can get from SOpt is muscle force. The tendon forces that are "calculated" are not being considered in SOpt, and that is why they do no...

Re: Understanding intervertebral disc reaction forces
Sorry, I have been at the American Society for Biomechanics conference. How are you computing the Force variables? The Tendon force should be = Muscle force. If they are not, I would trust the Muscle forces from SOpt. There are no passive forces in this model, as SOpt does not consider Parrell elast...

Re: Understanding intervertebral disc reaction forces
Riza, This always makes me think for minute... so, I could off on my logic without thinking about it too much (and not looking at any notes I have)... but I believe (from https://opensim.stanford.edu/downloads/ChecklistJointReaction.pdf and working off from FBD and the sign on the Compression Forces...

Re: Understanding intervertebral disc reaction forces
Yes. The JRA analysis is where you get the load estimates you (I assume) are interested in. Fy should be Compression, Fx should be AP shear, and Fz should be ML shear. The parent body should be the superior (as opposed to inferior) body relative to the joint. The Child the inferior. It really doesn'...

Re: subject-specific implementation of pelvic alignment
I'm not the one to ask (Brett Allaire does most of that for the Anderson group), but that sounds right.
I've attached a picture of how/when the process was explained to me. Hopefully this helps, otherwise I could give you Brett's contact info.
