Differentiate between active and passive muscle forces

Hey :) , I am analyzing the effect of active muscles forces in an impact scenario. For this, I have used DeMers drop landing model as reference. I simulated two scenarios, one with controllers (muscle fiber stretch controller) to excite the muscles and second is without any controllers (a passive mo...

About clamping the range of motion

Hey Guys, I have a lumbar joint defined by rotational motion and the motion has been clamped to a fixed range. The problem is that, when I simulate my model, the rotation happens beyond the range that I have mentioned (despite me clamping it). I tried looking for the issue but couldn't find any. You...

Need help with simulation issues

Hello :) , I am trying to study the effect of acceleration on the vehicle occupant. For this purpose I am using a modified version of Raabefullbody model. I have modeled the occupant seat as an half space and I have restricted its motion in a specific direction using slider joint with the ground. I ...

Re: Muscle seperation from the body during simulation.

It sounds like the muscle may be attached to a different body than the geometry you're visualizing. It would be easier to diagnose if you provide the files and instructions to reproduce the issue. I solved this problem. There were issues with the contraintset and on rectifying those the model behav...

Re: Muscle seperation from the body during simulation.

What are the muscles connected to? It sounds like you have connected the attachment points to the Ground; when the simulation begins, the bodies move while the Ground stays stationary. Hey James, I have connected the muscles to specific points on the respective bodies. The problem is that the muscl...

Muscle seperation from the body during simulation.

Dear Friends, I am trying to run a forward dynamic simulation to depict an acceleration/deceleration of a car occupant. Since the simulation took time, I initially ran the analysis without muscles in order to verify the contacts and prescribed forces. The simulation worked fine. But when I added mus...

Induce acceleration on a body

Hi :) ,
I have a .stl file in opensim and I want to induce an acceleration on this object.
I would like to know if this is possible and if yes then how?
I also came across prescribed force but I am not sure as how to use it :?: :?: .
Kindly let me know.
Thanks :D

Thesis on building active muscle models in opensim for investigating vehicle frontal crash

I am intending on building active muscle models in opensim for using them for investigating vehicle frontal crash and I would like compare the results with MADYMO. I need to input force data into the muscle or keep the muscles activated and then induce acceleration on the entire model before bringin...
