nvidia Titan

The functionality of OpenMM will (eventually) include everything that one would need to run modern molecular simulation.

nvidia Titan

Hello,

I was just curious if anyone has compared the nvidia titan and tesla cards (k20).

As far as I can tell, the biggest difference seems to be that the tesla cards support ecc memory while the titan card does not. I see that OpenMM has shown some benchmarks using Titan (http://wiki.simtk.org/openmm/Benchmarks) so I'm wondering how critical the ecc specification really is.

We are currently looking to purchase some new hardware and would just like to hear how others have achieved optimal performance.

Thanks for your help!

Cheers,
Kevin

Hi Kevin,

My experience has been that the Titan is quite a bit faster than the Keplers, and there have been no problems at all with simulation accuracy. Since the Titan is also cheaper, I personally think it's the way to go.

Thanks,

Thank you Lee-Ping!

We decided to buy some of the Titan cards recently.

Can't wait to try them out!!
