Parameters for Sobel and Contrast Filters

Post by Parker Smith » Tue Dec 01, 2020 12:42 pm

Hey there,

I watched your YouTube tutorials which were helpful for tracking purposes however my images are not as clear as yours.
Can you please share the Blend and Scale parameters used in the Sobel filter as well as the Alpha and Beta values for the contrast?
Providing these parameters for both the Rad renderer and DRR renderer would be greatly appreciated.

Values for the Sample distance, Xray intensity and Xray Cutoff for the DRR renderer would also be nice.

Thanks
-Parker

Hi Parker,

Sorry for the late reply. There was a problem with my notification system, and I missed your post. There is some helpful information in our manuscript:

"The same image filters were then used for tracking the bones in all specimens. To enhance the edges of the bones' image on the radiographs, a Sobel filter with a scale factor of 3 and a blend value of 0.4, in addition to a contrast filter with an alpha (for image contrast) of 2.5, and beta (for image brightness) of 0.9 were used. To match the DRRs with the radiograph, a ray intensity value of 0.35 was chosen, and a Sobel filter with 0.1 blend value and 1.7 scale factor was used."

We also have some sample data when you install the software. You can use the "sample_data/xParameters/control settings.vie" file for the start, and change the values to figure out the best parameters for your x-ray sets.

Best,
Bardiya
