Coronary Artery Stenosis Case

Post by A P » Mon Aug 12, 2019 12:39 pm

Hello,
I have been looking for a dataset of patients with stenosis in the coronary arteries to model. Is there data for this case in the simvascular repository? If not, could someone please point me to a databank that would contain what I need?

Thank You.

I have another related doubt. In the vascular model repository, do the titles in the sample descriptions accurately correspond with the model it is linked with?

If so, there are several coronary artery models that are titled "Coronary Artery Bypass graft Disease". Does this mean that the imaging will include the original arteries with stenosis (which would be usable for my project)? Please forgive me for asking novice questions, I am a student new to this field.

Thank You.

Hello AP,

Yes the headings and the images in vascularmodel.org correspond to the data. Each model also contains a PDF (also included in the table) with additional details. See the coronary models under:

http://www.vascularmodel.com/sandbox/do ... y_coronary

Depending on your needs OSMSC0158 is preoperative, while other datasets such as OSMSC0113, OSMSC0115, OSMSC0188, and OSMSC0189 are CABG patients that presumably contain some diseased vessels. It seems possible some preoperative patent vesssels could occlude postoperatively but no information was provided with the imaging data to that regard.

I'm personally not aware of any available coronary data sets elsewhere.

Hi,
I was wondering if any of the images from the vascular model repository are scaled differently from what the SimVascular image navigator suggests the units are. For example, with OSMSC0158, the model cross sections (in the healthy regions) have a perimeter of about 0.6 ____, where the navigator suggests that the units are in mm. However, that would mean that the diameter of the vessel is only about 1/5 of a mm, which is unrealistic. If the units were actually centimeters, I think it is more realistic, as the diameter would then be about 2 mm long. Could someone please clarify for me?

Thank you!

Hi AP,

SV assumes units in mm. If the image data was not scaled correctly when input then vessel diameters would appear to be wrong. Units really only matter when you are doing simulations.

Send an email to Nathan directly to see what he thinks.

Cheers,
Dave
