Dear SV developer,
Hope you all are doing great. Thank you
I am working on a 1D simulation project in coronary arteries. I would like to know that in meshing panel why and when we use adaptive mesh button? I think adaptive mesh capture pressure drop phenomenon in 1D. Is it right or not? If its right than how we calculate pressure drop values in 1D models?
Thank you in advance
Sajeda

Re: 1D adaptive meshing
Hi Sajeda,
If you use adaptive meshing, SimVascular choses the location of mesh refinement points in 1D. This gives you a slightly better representation of the pressure drop along the vessel. Unfortunately, this also makes the simulation more expensive and at times more unstable. It also won't be able to reproduce large pressure drops due to large changes in cross-sectional area (like stenoses). We're currently working on a new version where this is taken into account.
I hope this helps!

Re: 1D adaptive meshing
Thank you Martin for your reply.
I have another query that in 1D mesh panel element size is 0.1.
I think it is 0.1 cm. Is it correct? If I put 0.05 cm then I get some centerlines from 3D otherwise not.
Would you please let me know why we use this extremely fine grid?
Thank you in advance
