Units of shear constant in cgs

Post by Joanne Sarsam » Wed Feb 21, 2024 11:03 am

Hello,

I am curious what the units of Shear Constant that we prescribe in our deformable constant wall simulations is in terms of CGS. I notice that in the tutorials they mention that the default value is 0.833, so i was curious was units this is in CGS, or if the value is unitless?

Thanks,
Joanne

Hi Joanne,

Sorry, what is the context here, which solver, which tutorial?

Cheers,
Dave

The shear correction factor of 0.833=5/6 is dimensionless and explained in this paper: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.cma.2005.11.011
