Hi,

I would like to know if it is possible to simulate airflow in the bronchial tree using the ROM Simulation tool.

From my perspective, there don't seem to be significant differences between simulating blood flow and simulating airflow in a 1D model, as it seems that the type of flow (laminar, turbulent, etc.) is no longer a critical consideration in this context.

Do you have any articles or documents describing the modeling and simulation methods used by SimVasculat that you could share, please ?

Hello,

You can review the Simvascular Documentation for information on modeling and simulation methods. You could generate a model of the bronchial tree and use the ROMSimulation tool to generate a 1-D representation, with which you could run a simulation with parameters for airflow. We have not explored simulation of airflow in the lab but definitely give it a try and let us know how it works out.

Be careful using a program developed for a specific application for another similar but different application. The 1D ROM solver was implemented for incompressible fluid flow; density and viscosity are hard-coded for fluids.
