SIMULATION FILES CANNOT BE CREATED

Post by Ermioni Kanaki » Fri Mar 22, 2024 5:44 am

I am a student currently finishing my Masters at the National Technical University Of Athens and I am using Simvascular for a course project. I am tasked to run simulations in an aneurysm model on an Aorta but when I'm trying to create the simulation files I'm getting the message that I've provided with the screenshots. Also as you can see by the screenshots in the project file where the simulation's files should be created some key files are missing. I don't know if it has anything to do with the solver or not. I have installed the following:
1. SimVascular-Windows-2023-05
2. svsolver-Windows-2022-07
3. w_fortran-compiler_p_2024.0.2.27_offline
4. msmpisdk
5. VisualStudioSetup
6. vs_BuildTools
Can you please provide some insights into what is going wrong?

Hello,

Make sure that the location of the svSolver executables are set correctly in the SimVascular Preferences panel

Also make sure you have a Fortran compiler installed, check the Windows registry, not sure what w_fortran-compiler_p_2024.0.2.27_offline is.

Cheers,
Dave

Hello David,
thank you for the quick reply. This is my preferences panel that I'm providing in the screenshot, I think it is right by comparing it with your screenshot.
I thought that I had downloaded the correct Fortran Compiler. Can you send me a link with the correct Fortran compiler choice? Also, I am working on Windows 11 home do you think it has to do anything with the problem?

Thank you for the help,
Ermioni

Hi Ermioni,

Here's the link to the Intel Fortran Compiler Classic I use to build svSolver https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en ... ml#fortran. This is on the SimTK svSolver downloads page (https://simtk.org/frs/?group_id=188). You also need to install Windows MPI.

I think Windows 11 should not be a problem.

Cheers,
David

Dear David,
I have exactly the same issue (Failed to create files...). I'm running SimVascular-Windows-2023-05 on Windows 11, with svsolver-Windows-2022-07. Intel Fortran is installed and MPI as well. svSolver executables are mentioned correctly. The error message itself is empty.
Many thanks for any ideas!
Best regards,
Bohdan Kulchytskyi

Hi Bohdan,

Try using the 2019 release of svSolver here https://simtk.org/frs/download_confirm. ... oup_id=188.

The latest version seems to have problems on some Windows laptops, have not been able to reproduce on my laptop.

Cheers,
Dave
