Hello,

Does this new version work on Windows 7?
I have the older version installed on a Windows 7 workstation.
I copied a SV project from a newer version (not the latest) on a Windows 10 operating system, to this one. Although the mesh still existed, some of the mesh settings was disappeared and I got the warning message "error in parsing command history". I was wondering if installing a newer version, if possible, can fix this issue so that I don't have to recreate the mesh.

Hello Ati,

Windows 7 isn't a supported platform for SimVascular any longer. We don't have any machines running the old OS.

Most likely, the build and the libraries should run on Windows 7 even though they are built on Windows 10. However, the last time I tried a few years ago on a virtual machine it wouldn't start the GUI due probably to a missing system library which I couldn't track down. Sometimes you can get lucky if you have other installed software that installed whatever shared library was missing so perhaps it will run for others.

The latest version (2019-01-27) really should install itself completely independently of any previous version, so you could try and install it and keep the old version on the Windows 7 machine and see what happens.

As for the missing files, I'm not aware of any changes to the SV project but it's possible. Most of the files are XML format and human readable, so if it were me and I really needed to get a project working in a different version, I would create a new dummy project with all the items I needed in the version I was trying to run (e.g. dummy model and dummy mesh), then I would hand edit the files to update to the model and mesh from my previous SV project and copy in the necessary files. It's not elegant, but should work with some trial and error.

I could get it work for now by installing the same version used on the windows 10 system.
I may need to follow your advice for my future simulations.
