Error: Contour not created and added since it's invalid

Hello,
I was following the Geometric Modelling - 2D Segmentation guide using the sample_data-cm.vti and when trying to do use LevelSet to contour, I am getting an error.
I toggled Convert to Spline and changed the Ctrl No. to 12 and then when I click LevelSet again, I get this error.

Here is what my Display and SV 2D Segmentation looks like

Hi Paulina,

The problem is that the path point (blue cross) is near the vessel border. The level set algorithm tries to propagate a curve starting at the path point but immediately halts, producing no segmentation (contour), thus the error message. You should try to place path control points as near the vessel center as possible.

The error message is not very helpful, I will open a Issue on that and change it.

Cheers,
Dave

Thank you! I fixed it.

Also, 3D Segmentation doesn't seem to be available on the SimVascular I have downloaded because when I right click on Segmentations there is no control "Create 3D Segmentations". Is there an updated version of SimVascular that works on MAC with macOS Catalina?

Hi Paulina,

The SV documentation is out of date, I will add an Issue to update it.

There are two 3D segmentation tools that can be selected from the SV upper toolbar under the Tools menu

1) Colliding Fronts

2) SV MITKSegmentation

The SV 3D segmentation described in the SV documentation is for Colliding Fronts although the new panel looks quite different.

We have not yet built an SV MacOS version for Catalina, I will have a look at that soon.

Cheers,
Dave
