Extraneous faces when reading in model with extensions from VMTK

Hi,

I have a model that I've created in SimVascular. I trim the ends in SimVascular, export it as a solid model to a .vtp file, and then add flow extensions in VMTK. When I read the new model with extensions back in to SimVascular and have SimVascular automatically identify the faces, there are a number of extraneous faces which I cannot seem to visualize as they must be too small. I get only one of these extraneous faces when I increase the separation angle to 90deg, but I cannot figure out where it is, even when I hide all of the other faces that should be there. Any advice on 1) how to see where a face is based on its name in the face list, and 2) how to get rid of extraneous faces?

Thank you!

Hello,

Trimming the model in SV is probably creating small triangles and then adding flow extensions in VMTK might be creating holes or non-manifold geometry that adds extraneous faces.

It would probably be better to just delete the faces
- Create a copy of the model
- Select a face from the Face List
- Select the Delete button
- Save the model

This should create a well-defined boundary that VMTK can use to add extensions.

Cheers,
Dave
