Obtain License for Parasolid?

Dear all,

I am trying to find a link, where I can contact Mr. Knuttila from UGS and details to inquire the conditions of obtaining a parasolid license to use with SimVascular. I did find this page a couple of weeks ago, however, I don't seem to be able to find it again.
Does anybody know what the conditions of this licensed software package are?

The reason I ask this is, that according to the tutorial http://simvascular.github.io/docsModelG ... ngBlending the parasolid tool seems to be able to smoothen transitions between different branches of the segmented vessels. The tool polyData, that comes with the free SimVascular package does not seem to be able to do this. If there is a way, that transitions between branching vessels can be made less sharp with this already, then of course I would be much more interested in this. Does this option exist in polydata?
I attached screenshots of the sharp branch transitions with polyData and a screenshot from the SimVascular manual with usage of the package parasolid, which is what I am looking for.

Thanks for any help!!

Best regards
Johannes

Hi Johannes!

It is possible to smooth between branches with PolyData.

PolyData by nature is very different than Parasolid. PolyData is a discrete triangulated surface; whereas, Parasolid is an analytic NURBS surface.

So, for PolyData, instead of a blend like Parasolid, you use the combination of localized decimation, subdivision, and smoothing operations. You should be able to find info about it in our documentation. In addition, we have some youtube videos that should help:

Let me know if you have any questions. And if you need an analytic surface, we can put you in contact with the correct people to get a license.
