Problem with LocalOp Smooth

Hi everybody,
I created a PolyData Model, now I want to smooth the bifurcations (and ONLY the bifurcations). Following the instructions of the user guide, I chose the desired area using the Sphere Interactor, followed by Laplacian Smooth but as a result the whole model was smoothed. Maybe someone can help me with this problem and can give me advice how to smooth the model only inside the sphere region.
Regards
Johannes

Hi Johannes,
Make sure after you select a region with the sphere interactor, you click the Add Sphere Region button. You should see some text added to the text box. Then you use the Locally Laplacian Smooth or the Locally Constrain Smooth buttons to smooth within the selected region.

Hi Adam,
I tried once more to locally smooth the model by following the guide (including "Add sphere region" and "Add faces"; see attached screenshots), but unfortunately I cannot get rid of this problem I explained before. For me it looks like the whole model was smoothed (comparing image 1 with image 4; image 4 was taken after pressing Locally Laplacian Smoothing button), not only the model wall within the sphere region. Maybe you have an idea what I`m doing wrong or what could be the reason for this.
Regards.

Hi Johannes,
It looks like the problem is the second line. You are not only smoothing within the sphere region, you are smoothing face 1 as well. Delete both lines from the Local Parameters text box, and then just add the sphere region. That should smooth only within the sphere region. Let me know if that fixes your issue.
Thanks!

Dear Adam,
thanks a lot for the reply and please excuse the late response. I tried again smoothing within a sphere reigion following your instructions and finally it worked. I figured out that my problem was not the smoothing itself but I recognized that I had problems to see whether the smoothing was successful in solid view of the model because here it looked like the whole model was smoothed. When I chose wire frame view I could see clearly the smoothing only inside the sphere region.
So once more thank you for your advice, I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Regards.
Johannes
