Simulation Example 1 - No exported data to "steady-results"

Hello,

After going through the simulation guide and running a successful simulation, I'm unable to see any data in the newly created "steady-results" folder.

SimVascular successfully created the "steady" and "steady-files" files, and I even have the [restart.0.1, restart.10.1, etc.] saved in the "steady" folder. When I carry out the final step of "Export ..." , a new folder for "steady-results" is compiled; however, it doesn't contain any files at all.

Thank you for the help.

Joseph

EDIT: I am on a Windows system and ran with "1" and "4 - the max" number of processes. Neither work.

Follow-up,

I am running on Mac OSX and the same issue occurs as well.

Hello,

I am using a PC and download SimVascular today. I am having the same problem of being able to simulate but unable to have the results exports. A results folder will appear but with nothing inside of it.

Thanks,
Patrick

Hi,

After your simulation done, you should have restart.x.x in
[SV_Project_Folder]/Simulations/[job_name]/ (if using one process)
or [SV_Project_Folder]/Simulations/[job_name]/x-procs_case/ (if using multiple processes)

Here let's assume you use 4 processes, and total time step is 500, and the simulation outputs every 50 steps.

To export results (converting restart files to vtp and vtu files):
Result Dir: [SV_Project_Folder]/Simulations/[job_name]/x-procs_case
Start: 0 Stop:500 Increment:50
Click "Export..." and Select a directory where you want to put your exported results. After exporting done, you should have a folder named [job_name]-results created in that directory. This new folder contains all results: all_resultsxxx.vtp, all_results.vtu, average_result.vtp. Load those files to ParaView to visualize the results.

Hongzhi,

I cannot speak for the other individuals on this post, but I have all restart.x.x files in [SV_Project_Folder]/Simulations/[job_name].

I followed the steps you've outlined for exporting the .vtp & .vtu files, however no results exported to [job_name]-results. Additionally, if I attempt to export again, Simvascular will crash.

Hi Brett,

Make sure you are using the latest SimVascular. You can send the folder [SV_Project_Folder]/Simulations/[job_name] to me(hongzhi@stanford.edu). I'll check the files. Also tell What OS you are using.

Hello SDT,

I am in the same course as Brett and Patrick. I have followed your instruction above, and I have an empty [job_name]-results folder.

I am also running into the same problem. I followed your steps and get an empty [job_name]-results folder. I am using Windows 10.

After re-downloading SimVascular and following the MPI preferences, etc... I am still unable to export any results.

Which "Result Dir:" should I be using for the export? I have currently selected the folder that contains all of my restart.x.x files.

When I select, "Show Detail...", SimVascular appears to have not accessed anything past the [restart.0.1] file to "scan for number of variables..."

I re-downloaded the newest versions of the SvSolver as well, but I haven't seen any changes. I made sure to completely remove SimVascular from the computer before downloading. I'm running on Windows 10 x64.

Thank you,

Joseph
