OpenCap for lifting task

New project for OpenCap, which is a new software package to estimate 3D human movement dynamics from smartphone videos. OpenCap strongly relies on OpenSim.

OpenCap for lifting task

Post by Neha Sahu » Wed Dec 13, 2023 12:27 am

Can we use opencap for lifting analysis? How accurate does it give the kinematics data?

It should work, but we have not done a validation on lifting specifically.

Thank you, sir, for your response. Could you please suggest the method through which I can validate the result? Can we use these kinematics on OpenSim and compare them with EMG data? Also, does the contact of the lifting object affect the Opencap data?

Could you tell me whether OpenCap gives musculoskeletal forces for lifting with the assistive device?

Hi Neha, yes you would need to model the lifted object in the muscle-driven simulation. This forum is for technical questions about OpenCap. We support discussions about research projects through quarterly Restore Center virtual office hours. Keep an eye out here for the application: https://restore.stanford.edu/virtual-office-hours/

sir, how can we use opencap data for calculation muscle force on spine. As model use here is basically lower body model, if we are using kinematic data of opencap on FBLS model there is error in that. please suggest.

Hey,

First you would need to reprocess you OpenCap using the full body model, take a look at this conversation: viewtopicPhpbb.php?f=2385&t=17002&p=0&s ... 142924781d
Then to simulate forces, I would suggest you use OpenSim Moco as the utilities in OpenCap processing do not support this model.

Best,
Antoine
