muscle-driven dynamic simulations (muscle activation)

New project for OpenCap, which is a new software package to estimate 3D human movement dynamics from smartphone videos. OpenCap strongly relies on OpenSim.

muscle-driven dynamic simulations (muscle activation)

Post by Whitney Mantooth » Wed Feb 07, 2024 10:55 am

I am wondering how OpenCap utilizes muscle-driven dynamic simulations to calculate muscle activity. I recently came across your article- OpenCap: Human movement dynamics from a smart phone. Is OpenCap able to predict muscle activity? I use EMGs, and we typically take MVCs to standardize it, but I was wondering if OpenCap standardizes it, or based on the paper it appears that the software takes generalized measurements. I am a bit unclear, and would like more information if you would be able to point me in the correct direction. Thanks!

Hello,

We use dynamic optimization to estimate muscle activity. These papers might be a good starting point:

- https://royalsocietypublishing.org/doi/ ... .2019.0402

Best,
Antoine
