Kinetic analysis withMTP = False and errors

New project for OpenCap, which is a new software package to estimate 3D human movement dynamics from smartphone videos. OpenCap strongly relies on OpenSim.

Kinetic analysis withMTP = False and errors

Post by Jade He » Wed May 08, 2024 5:43 pm

Hi All,

My goal is to improve walking JRA results (i.e., KAM). I am trying to take the approach of welding the MTP joint. I thought I could do so by "settings['withMTP'] = False." And then I got error messages (attached).

My questions are:
- Is welding the MTP joint an appropriate approach to improve JRA results for OpenCap?
- Are the error messages related to Force? getting force to applied to the foot?

Thank you for your input/thoughts in advance!
Jade

Additional line in example_kinetics.py
settings = processInputsOpenSimAD(baseDir, dataFolder, session_id, trial_name, motion_type, time_window, repetition, treadmill_speed)
settings['withMTP'] = False

Hi,

I think that's an old feature that is no longer supported I will open an issue to fix that. I doubt you would get better results with no MTP. I added the MTP after finding that it gave me better simulations: https://journals.plos.org/plosone/artic ... ne.0256311

Best,
Antoine
