I am interested in evaluating lower extremity motion of cadavers with movement initiated by a researcher. OpenCap would be unable to detect this motion as it is only a segment of the body, correct?
Second, would using the wide angle camera lens be possible and/or impact the data. My team and I are interested in collecting motion data in a small area and were considering using a wide angle lens in order to capture the whole body.
Thank you in advance for your responses.

Re: Cadaver Motion Analysis and Wide Angle Camera
Hi Shelby,
Interesting research! OpenCap will find the biggest person in the videos as detected by pose estimation and track only that person. So if a researcher is moving only a segment, I would assume it would track the researcher and not the segment.
Unfortunately no, the wide angle lens would affect the camera intrinsics and it would not work properly.
Hope this helps,
Matt

Re: Cadaver Motion Analysis and Wide Angle Camera
Hi Matt,
This is very helpful!
I have one additional question regarding the cadaver portion of the question. (1) If a device such as a c-arm was used to move the cadaver's leg rather than a person, would this correct for the pose estimation detection issue? (2) Additionally, if the cadaver wasn't a fully body (just lower extremity - from the hip to the foot) would calibration and motion detection still be possible?
Best,
Shelby

Hi Shelby,
The c-arm should work, but OpenCap does expect to see the whole body. So only seeing the lower body would not work.
Best,
Matt
