Hello,
I am using 5th Grand Challenge data for my research. I have some confusion with .trc files and so have the following questions.
A. In ‘Marker Set Description’ document some marker description is missing which are available in ‘.trc’ file. Those markers are
1. R.ShoulderAnterior
2. R.ShoulderPosterior
3. L.ShoulderAnterior
4. L.ShoulderPosterior
5. R.Midfoot.Medial
6. R.Hindfoot
7. L.MidfootMedial
8. L.Hindfoot
9. Oglobal
10. Xglobal
11. Yglobal
12. Zglobal
From where I can get the description for above mentioned markers?
Also some markers data is missing in ‘.trc’ file which are mentioned in ‘Marker Set Description’. Those markers are
1. Right Shoulder Center
2. Left Shoulder Center
3. Right Pole Top
4. Left Pole Top
5. Right Pole Base Medial
6. Left Pole Base Medial
7. Right Pole Base Lateral
8. Left Pole Base Medial
B. Was subject using pole for all trials or just for walking trial?
C. Is it correct that subject was wearing shoes for all trials?

Re: Qu regarding Markers & Trials
Hello,
I have answered each of your questions below:
Here are descriptions of the markers missing from the Marker Set Description:
1. R.ShoulderAnterior (Static Trial Only) - Located on anterior right shoulder
2. R.ShoulderPosterior (Static Trial Only) - Located on posterior right shoulder
3. L.ShoulderAnterior (Static Trial Only) - Located on anterior left shoulder
4. L.ShoulderPosterior (Static Trial Only) - Located on posterior left shoulder
5. R.Midfoot.Medial - Marker should be placed close to floor between heel and midfoot superior markers on the medial side of the right foot
6. R.Hindfoot - Marker should be placed close to floor between heel and midfoot markers of the right foot
7. L.MidfootMedial - Marker should be placed close to floor between heel and midfoot superior markers on the medial side of the left foot
8. L.Hindfoot - Marker should be placed close to floor between heel and midfoot markers of the left foot
9. Oglobal - Used to locate and define the global coordinate system
10. Xglobal - Used to locate and define the global coordinate system
11. Yglobal - Used to locate and define the global coordinate system
12. Zglobal - Used to locate and define the global coordinate system
Regarding the markers that are not in the .trc file. Not all markers in the Marker Set Description were used for each subject in the Grand Challenge data set. So, the markers that you listed were not used for the 5th Grand Challenge data set.
The subject in the 5th Grand Challenge data set did not use walking poles for any of the trials collected.
The subject in the 5th Grand Challenge data set was wearing shoes for all trials.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.
