OpenSim tutorial - static optimisation crushes

Post by Ran Sopher » Sun Jun 22, 2014 2:55 pm

Hi all,

I am very new to OpenSim and currently trying to play with the models provided with the download (e.g. gait2354 and gait2359), and to apply what I have learnt from the tutorials.
Every time I am trying to run static optimisation OpenSim crushes. After a few trials I am quite sure that the problem is in the GRF data (I use the file provided by OpenSim - subject01_walk1_grf) - when I try running static optimisation without it, it works perfectly.
Could anybody please recommend what I should do?

Kindest regards,
Ran

Hi Ran,

Have you included an 'additional force set file' to the setup? Trying to run static opt from the existing files in the tutorial, which doesn't include a residual actuators file, will lead to a crash.

If you download the StaticOpt_JointReaction.zip example (from the OpenSim download page) the folder contains an example file (gait2392_SO_weak_Residual_Actuators.xml) that can be used.

Hope that helps,
-james
