Introducing knee varus valgus in model2392

Post by Ilse Jonkers » Wed Oct 01, 2008 8:08 am

We want to introduce an additional DOF @ the knee (varus-valgus). It seems that in order to get correct allignment of femur and tibia, we need to introduce a fixed Tz of about 0.4 m.
We have no idea why this should be?

We know that during the opensimJamboree people worked on getting a knee model with additional DOF; We would be interested to share experiences.

Thanks,

Ilse and Friedl

Hi, I'm also trying to implement knee abduction/adduction into the general model. I find that the extra degree of freedom works only if the prescribed tx and ty translations of the tibia with respect to the femur are constant values. So if you set tx = 0.004 and ty = -0.4 (right leg here), the model moves correctly. But it would be nice to have the presecribed femur/tiba translation function to be part of the model as well.

Any ideas???

Tim

Hi
I am also interested in doing that. I guess the scaling function may affect this
