Transtibial dynamic alignment

Post by ESPERANZA CAMARGO » Wed Mar 02, 2016 10:20 am

Hi
I modified one of the models gait up replacing a leg prosthesis to evaluate the effects of poscion of the prosthesis in the gait. When generating the movement this is correct, but when I try simulate to graph the results the model falls

Can you please explain further. It is unclear what you are trying to do.

Hi Jimmy

Hi Jimmy, I took the model gait 10dof 18 usc.osim of opensim and I replaced one of the legs by a transtibial prosthesis, when I click in "play" after of load a file .mot I can see the prosthetic gait and its deviations when I changed the position of the components of the prosthetics, but when I click in simulate button to get the graphs of results, the dummy disintegrates and falls in void.
I have changed the .osim file, I have change other file to get the simulation? or I have to put a floor for that the dummy does not fall?
I wait your answer.

Hi,

When you run the simulation, the bodies fall because of the gravity. Depends on what you want to simulate there are possible solutions.

Jim is correct. If you just hit the simulate button then the only force is gravity, and your model will fall.

Do you have any experimental motion data (markers, external forces) that you drive the model with?

Thanks Jim and James.

I modified the file "gait 10dof 18 usc.osim", I did not modify any other file, I thought emulate gait deviations by misalignment of the components of the prosthesis and compare these results (angles) with an amputee measured with a capture equipment movement. The question is: is necessary to external data entry? or do you suggest?

You will need to run an Inverse Kinematics study to generate joint angles from your Model. I would recommend going through this tutorial; it will show you the typical workflow for generating joint angles.

Hello

I 'm working on prosthetic gait, I did a prothesis in solidwork. I imported the parts in stl file, I load in geometry folder. However, the parties did not retain their properties, in this case the deformation of prosthetic foot.

What properties? Inertia, mass?

If it is a geometry file then it won't retain any of this properties. It is just a 3d image. You will have to set the properties of the body in the model file (.osim)
