Hi all,
i am new in this forum. i am trying to work on the biomechanics of the shoulder and i wonder if i can get the coordinates of muscles insertions from an opensim model and how?
Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks a lot,

Re: muscle insertion
Upper extremity models can be found on the "Musculoskeletal Models" page in the Confluence documentation (http://simtk-confluence.stanford.edu:80 ... tal+Models) and by searching through projects on simtk.org. Muscle origin and insertion points can be read from a model (.osim) file directly using a text editor, or by opening the model in the OpenSim GUI and using the Navigation panel to read the properties of the muscles (see the "Muscle Editor" page on Confluence: http://simtk-confluence.stanford.edu:80 ... cle+Editor).
Re: muscle insertion
Hello,
To get muscle attachment points and details of wrapping surfaces you have 2 options:
1- oppening the modeel.osim using text viewer and I opened it in Excel it was more organised
2- From openSim software using Muscle Editor (as recommended by Tom Uchide , See, for example, the "Muscle Editor" page here: http://simtk-confluence.stanford.edu:80 ... cle+Editor).
As a new user, I would suggest using the second way where you can navigate through the muscles with 3D visualization.
Hope this helps

Jum
