Hello, All.
I am currently preparing for CEINMS optimization with OpenSim.
I am wondering if I can use CEINMS with EMG data without MVC normalization.
I measured EMG data experimentally, but I did not get the MVC EMG during tasks.
Thank you for any comment.
Sincerely,
Hoon

Re: CEINMS + OpenSim question
Hi Hoon,
At the end of your EMG processing you have to normalise the excitation data to be between 0 and 1. This is not only for CEINMS but for general use across MSK modelling.
As you don't have MVC trials you could normalise it to the maximal value recorded in one of your trials for the respective muscles. However this depends on the tasks you are analysing and population you are examining. As CEINMS can be used as an EMG-informed method of solving the redundancy problem, the accuracy of the measured maximal value will have an effect on your results.
Cheers,
Pavlos

Re: CEINMS + OpenSim question
Dear Pavlos Silvestros
Thank you so much for the comment.
When we collected the EMG data, we just wanted to compare the simulated activation to the measured EMG in Pattern (not magnitudes).
But, we recently found the CEINMS and we were wondering if we can use that EMG data as an input for the CEINMS.
Now, I realized that normalization of EMG data would affect the results of CEINMS and I should measure MVC EMG for the next project to use CEINMS.
Thank you so much for your comment.
Have a great day.
