Hi, I just install 4.0, and am excited to go through some of the introductory tutorials. However, when I click the 'file' menu to open the first sample model, there is no dropdown. My laptop cooling fan is going now and task manager indicates 50.2% of cpu (and about 600M memory) consumed by java and a handfull of its processes. So it's clearly hung.
I tried removing and installing again with same result. This is a new windows 10 laptop with 12G memory and all windows updates installed.
Could this be an installation issue?
edit:upon re-running opensim , there was a popup to the effect
"Error : failed to load opensim libraries
... make sure opensim binaries directory is in your path"
but it seems to have disappeared in the course of copying the message down,
and then opensim GUI restarted with the same issue.

Re: Cannot load a model
After stopping and starting the app about 3 times, some dialog box came up asking me to accept some default directory, which I did, and it seems to be up and running. For future reference ...

Re: Cannot load a model
Thanks for reporting, Robert.
I don't believe restarting the application many times is the actual solution, it could be that the dialog asking for a folder to install resources appeared in the back or was not prominent. Please let us know if that is a possibility.
This also is unrelated to the libraries not found message/error you reported earlier. Can you describe what changed in your latest installation (that worked) from previous ones (that didn't) so that other users on the forum can benefit.
Thank you,
-Ayman
