Actuators

Post by Madeleine Bates » Fri Mar 27, 2020 6:50 am

Hi

I'm sure this is an embarrassingly straightforward question, but I'm still new to OpenSim and can't seem to find the answer anywhere.

I understand the purpose of residual and reserve actuators but I don't understand how to use them. I am looking at joint reaction analysis but how will I know if I need to use an actuator file, and if so, do I need to create my own? Many thanks.

Hello,

No worries,

Typically if a tool requires extra actuators (reserves or residuals) you'd have a place to enter these in the GUI/setup files. I don't believe JointReaction analysis. Typically analyses are post-hoc and so they don't modify the model by adding actuators. Can you point out why you thought an actuators file is needed to run JointReaction analysis?

Thank you,
