HuntCrossley force or Elastic foundation force for drop landing simulation

Post by Xijin Hua » Thu Nov 18, 2021 5:17 pm

Dear OpenSim experts:

I am using a Opensim musculoskeletal model to simulate a body dropping land to a platform with height of 0.4 m using a forward dynamics simulation. There are two main contact models available in OpenSim: ones is HuntCrossleyForce and the other one is ElasticFoundationForce. Could anyone please tell me what are the differences between these two contact models, in terms of applying to the drop landing simulation through forward dynamics simulation? Which one should I use? Thanks in advance.

Best regards

Xijin
